I’m a North Carolina-based travel and outdoor blogger and also a hiking/backpacking guide who wants to encourage everyone to get out there and explore their world.

My audience is ready to get out there but needs encouragement and advice on how to get started.
I focus on small towns in the Southeastern US and places with outdoor adventures, especially hiking and backpacking.
Because I’m focused on people new to hiking and backpacking, I provide detailed information on gear and trip ideas from beginner to advanced. My audience loves that I keep it real, do the research, and list out options.
My passion is to help remove all of the obstacles my audience puts on themselves (I need to lose weight and get in shape first, I should find a friend to go with me, I need to research this for a year….etc), and get them out there!
The topics I generally write about include:
- Local travel ideas for North Carolina and surrounding states
- Adventure travel
- Outdoor guidance for hiking and backpacking
As a backpacking guide, specializing in beginners, I understand their concerns with gear, planning, and food. My advice isn’t based on what I did wrong, or what I learned, instead, it’s built on experience. I teach an Intro to Backpacking Course where I’ve trained over 100 new backpackers, helping them through their journey.
When it comes to small towns, I mainly focus on the downtown area. However, I do venture to areas outside of town for outdoor adventures, special treats, historic sites, and important points of interest.
I’m about facts and empowerment. As a scientist, I can’t help myself, I don’t simply accept the same statements I hear over and over. I take the time and do the research, then present it in an even manner. My passion is to ensure every person reading my articles has what they need to make the right decision for how they travel.
